producing safe, quality food

We will continue to apply best practice food safety and quality standards.

At Bulla, food safety and quality is paramount and has been integral to our approach in producing great Australian dairy products for over 110 years.

what we’ve achieved

Our BEST (Bulla Excellence Systems and Tools) program is designed to ensure we are better utilising systems, tools, and data to improve our operational excellence. This has enabled us to dramatically improve our performance against rigorous third-party food, safety, and quality standards such as SQF and customer proprietary standards.  By taking a data-led approach, we are able to address any challenges in real time to ensure we sustain and improve our high food safety and quality standards.

In FY22 we launched a company-wide Food Safety Cultural Maturity Action Plan to drive continuous improvement in food safety culture maturity, by focussing on people and behaviours as critical enablers for the manufacture of safe food. We continue to build on this plan year on year as one of our “must do” strategic initiatives.

what’s next

Following Bulla’s recent food safety culture survey, we will be working with Dr Lone Jespersen, one of the world’s foremost experts in food safety culture programs, to assess our manufacturing sites and support us to take our food safety culture maturity to the next level. We are also active participants in Dairy Regtech, initiated by our regulator, Dairy Food Safety Victoria.  This is another program designed to support culture change, using data to drive food safety performance.

enriching communities

We’ve committed to reinvest $1M every year into existing and new regional development programs that benefit the communities we operate in.
